If you’ve ever looked for halal vitamins or supplements, whether for yourself or for your children, you will know how difficult it is to find ones that are affordable, good quality and halal certified. Before I tried HalalVital, I had yet to find Yusuf some chewable vitamins that were suitable so I was really excited by the opportunity to review these.
These are alcohol free, pork gelatine free, produced with halal financing (interest free) and with premium quality ingredients. I tried the junior multivitamins and the probiotics – I had been looking for a great multivitamin for Yusuf and was running out of the probiotics we currently take, so I chose to review those two.
We do the best we can to offer the kids a variety of foods at every meal, but anyone that has dealt with a toddler knows that they will go through phases where they don’t want to eat at all, or want to live off fruit and bread, or throw a tantrum at the very sight of vegetables, and when you go through the winter months you worry they aren’t getting enough from their food to keep their immunity up and bugs at bay, and that’s when I like to supplement their meals and drinks with a multivitamin.
At £9 for 60 chewables, the multivitamins are affordable and Yusuf loves them. He asks for ‘one teddy bear’ every day and he likes to pretend he’s eating an ear first, or the bear’s tummy or a foot and takes great joy in grinding into them with his teeth (I’m not sure whether I should be amused or terrified). They are a nice, very subtle strawberry flavour (I’ve tasted them) and are not chalky at all. They’re also free of gluten, milk, wheat, soy and artificial flavour, which is great given his multiple allergies. The bears are a good size – not too overwhelmingly big or too small to hold – here’s a photo of them in his hand for reference (he’s just over two and a half years old). The active ingredients in each chewable follow the EC Recommended Daily Allowance. We don’t necessarily offer a vitamin a day, so these I would imagine would last us a good two and a half months – and when you put it that way, £9 is a steal! Especially given that you are supporting a halal business – HalalVital are the first company in Europe to produce 100% certified halal vitamins and supplements.
I have suffered from IBS for a few years now and I find that probiotics and changing my diet have really helped to alleviate my symptoms. For times when things are crazy busy and I’m not really paying attention to my diet as much, probiotics are my saviour and HalalVital’s probiotics are free of gluten, dairy, wheat and soy, which is a bonus. The active ingredients contain the three most important strains of bacteria, are suitably packaged, and have adequate manufacturer’s promise in the form of clearly labelled expiry dates. The kids and I were using a probiotic powder that needed to be refrigerated and I was constantly stressing about how long I left it out on the counter for. I have really liked using these because I have consumed the tablets along with my other vitamins in the morning and not forgotten to take them because they’re in the fridge and not with everything else. Even though these probiotics are not refrigerated, it is important to ensure they are packaged and stored correctly so that the bacterial strains don’t die off – a bottle full of dead bacteria is useless. These come packaged in a thick, opaque bottle with desiccant pouches and guidelines for storage printed on the bottle. So all you have to do is ensure that you store them in a cool place. I haven’t experienced any significant bloating or discomfort with these and I have been using them for just over 4 weeks. I like the probiotics I’m currently taking too but they are slightly more expensive than these and the active ingredients per serving do not vary widely, so this appears to be better value for money.
The packaging is lovely – It’s attractive and I like the varied colours on the main label so if you have more than one bottle, you’d be able to spot it from a distance. My only gripe with these is that the lids aren’t child proof – although we put things away and in medicine cupboards etc, the packaging would be perfect if it was child resistant.
If you’d like to give these a go, HalalVital is offering all my readers a special discount with the code: 443305
You can get 5% off all products and you’ll even get a free bottle of Vitamin D3 (normally £7.83) with your order!
HalalVital have something for everyone – so whether you’re looking for a prenatal supplement, an immune booster, something for your skin, hair and nails, or your children – I would recommend trying their products. They are passionate about what they do and I think it is so important for us all to throw our support behind them and contribute to their growth, given that there is finally a European based company tailoring their products to suit the needs of Muslims across Europe and worldwide (yes, they ship worldwide!)

March 28, 2016 at 3:01 pmThank you for providing this information! I never hear before of halal vitamines. Was recently bringing a big box from the US. Unfortnately, I can’t order as it would never pass customs here. But when I am in Europe again, it’s worth a try.

March 28, 2016 at 6:07 pmI found this review very detailed and thorough. You have covered almost every point a mother would like to know about these vitamins. I was just wondering if there is a minimum age for giving these to children?

April 3, 2016 at 9:04 pmThis is brilliant, Masha Allah. From the ingredients, packaging, affordability to the child friendly concept and finally off course the halal finance aspect.
Jazaakillah khayr for the thorough review. We really need to support businesses like this.

April 3, 2016 at 9:09 pmGood to see more halal products available. Would be nice if they could make the packaging on the kids vitamins a bit more appealing, seen kids vitamins boxes before that are so colourful with pictures etc but then that’s personal prefernce!
Thanks for sharing
